Mark Johnson, who is a member of the RETC organizing committee, and is co-chair for this year's technical program speaks about the conference.

Mark has more than 22 years of experience in tunnel engineering and has performed feasibility studies for water/wastewater/CSO tunnels and highway/rail projects, as well as detailed design of tunnel linings, shafts and other underground structures. Based at CH2M HILL's New York office, Mark is responsible for CH2M's tunneling business in North America. His experience includes tunnel projects in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore. The Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference (RETC) is the premier international forum for the exchange and dissemination of developments and advances in underground construction. RETC provides innovative solutions to the unique challenges associated with the tunneling industry. This year the conference will be held June 7-10 in New Orleans. Conference attendees come from more than 30 countries and the conference includes three short courses, an exhibit with more than 150 exhibitors as well as exceptional programming that includes 110 technical papers in 21 sessions.
