SME dares to Dream Big with support of upcoming IMAX movie

New film promises to be an eye-popping engineering experience

As the leading international resource for technical information about mining and related industries, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME) is pleased to announce that it has signed on as a major strategic partner with a groundbreaking film entitled “Dream BIG.” Produced in association with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the innovative film is being designed to inspire the next generation of engineers and change the public’s perception of engineering.

“SME is pleased to provide a forum for industry experts to share their experiences and knowledge of the intricacies associated with today’s global mining engineering community,” said SME Executive Director David L. Kanagy. “The value of producing this movie is that it reminds all of us of the important role engineering plays in our lives and lifestyles.”

Production has begun on “Dream BIG,” a celebration of engineering that promises to leave viewers breathless by taking them above, below, around and through some of engineering’s most impressive achievements. Audiences will discover how today’s engineers are shaping the world of tomorrow. The production team is calling on engineers worldwide to help make the experience even more remarkable by submitting their ideas for amazing and inspirational engineering projects that could be featured in the film.

Suggested topics include:

  • A civil engineering project that could be featured as a main storyline for the film. A project that is unique, revolutionary and filled with innovations and one that connects with other areas of engineering.

  • A charismatic, pioneering engineer involved in a compelling project that could be featured as a main character in the film.

  • A captivating, unforgettable engineering image or sequence that would be mind-blowing on an eightstory-tall IMAX 3D screen.
